The world of design is changing.
Today there are a lot more designs created by a lot more designers, but fewer people with a lot less time to appreciate them.
This was different thirty years ago, in the days of Dieter rams, when people who liked design had more time to enjoy them and far fewer choices to make.
In those days design was more about satisfying what people needed and creating better designs to facilitate the use of crudely designed products for example.
Today, design has turned into a 'wants' satisfying machine. With the rise of advertising and marketing of things people should want, design had to keep up and leave behind what it was best at. There are so many designs now, that it is becoming harder and harder for people to find, appreciate and buy designed products.
